An amphipod water spirit!
It was my first time drawing something based off of an amphipod, so sorry if something is wrong. 
I imagined this spirit being really big, but pretty docile. Living in the arctic or even the lake you mentioned. But when people are killing on his waters he gets upset an d lashes out, eating ships whole. (His tongue will grab a ship and pull it into his mouth) C: Feel free to change anything about the design! :D Hope you like it.

Oh man, this is AWESOME! This is even more amazing than I had anticipated! You did a great job combining the Amphipod features with fun fantasyish features. I LOVE the tail and the cute creamsicle-swirls, and the legs turned out so great! And I enjoy that you turned a tiny little crustacean into such a big tank of a spirit monster. Just the perfect blend of accurate and creative! <3
